316&316L Stainless Steel Tube
316/316L stainless steel
316L stainless steel sheet metal, also called marine grade stainless steel, is used primarily for its increased resistance to corrosion.316 / 316L stainless steel plates are part of the austenitic family of stainless steel and is the most widely used varieties of stainless plate. 316grades contain a higher level of Nickel than 304 giving it an improved corrosion resistance over 304 grades. 316/316L plate is a good option for marine applications due to a good atmospheric corrosion resistance.
316L is a low carbon modification to 316 grade,The "L" means that the carbon content of the alloy is below 0.03% which makes the 316L stainless steel sheet preferable for welding. Uses for 316L stainless steel sheet 2B finish include high end cookware, cutlery, marine applications and hydrogen fuel cells. If you need that option in stainless steel, the 430 grade will hold a magnet.
316 / 316L stainless steel sheet exhibits high strength, toughness and high temperature resistance. Due to higher level of molybdenum and nickel, it has higher corrosion and pitting resistance than 304 stainless sheet. Primarily a cold rolled product, it is available as hot rolled when required. 316 stainless steel alloys are used in applications that require resistance to salt water, acid and other highly corrosive materials.
