1. FMS Introduction.
What is the FMS? It is made of unified information control System, material storage and transportation system and a set of numerical control processing equipment. It is able to adapt to the varies of processing object, automatic machinery manufacturing system (Flexible Manufacturing System)
In simple terms, the flexible manufacturing system is based on NC machine tools or machining centers, with the production system of robot. This system could realize automatic control by computer, replace artificial production, it can meet many kinds of processing in the case of non-stop.
2. FMS Advantage.
*Faster, lower- cost changes from one part to another which will improve capital utilization
*Lower direct labor cost, due to the reduction in number of workers
*Reduced inventory, due to the planning and programming precision
*Consistent and better quality, due to the automated control
*Lower cost/unit of output, due to the greater productivity using the same number of workers
*Savings from the indirect labor, from reduced errors, rework, repairs and rejects
3. FMS Configuration.
There many choices for the FMS based on the customers’ requirements. The most simple one is one CNC machine + one robot. CNC machine does the workpiece manufacture, robot does the workpiece loading and laying-off .
