INCONEL 686 has outstanding resistance to general corrosion, pitting and crevice corrosion, and to stress corrosion cracking. It maintains corrosion resistance in weld beads and in the weld heat affected zone of welds. This alloy has good resistance to mixed acids with pH levels of 1 or less, and chloride levels of over 100,000 ppm.
